Our Graduate Programme
As a Graduate Engineer within our High Voltage team, you will be part of a growing team focused on contributing to the UKs Energy Transition. You will develop an understanding of the principals of design and construction, and the use of industry standard software packages in order to produce accurate, high quality design drawings, reports and calculations.
You will gain practical experience in producing deliverables associated with the design and build of complex Projects. These will be produced for some of the main high voltage transmission and distribution clients in the UK and abroad, covering both contractors and asset owners.
You will gain valuable experience of teamwork and fast-paced, exceptional engineering execution.
Principal Responsibilities
A Graduate Engineer in our HV team will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of the teams output in the production and control of drawings and technical documents and will also work with senior members of the team to assist during the bid process in order to secure further work.
- Provide engineering services design and consultancy work outputs on behalf of BakerHicks under the direction of the line manager or project lead.
- Produce design deliverables (including drawings, specifications and reports), site survey reports, construction stage duties, client liaison with members of design/construction teams, project management, costing and ensure progress against the project brief.
- Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary members of the design team to deliver safe, efficient and buildable solutions.
- Contribute to the preparation of enquiry plans, tender reviews, fee estimate sheets, scope of work documents and change control documentation as required.
- A developing understanding of CDM requirements.
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for individuals with a passion for High Voltage Engineering with a focus on sustainable and complex projects.
- BEng/BSc in Engineering with Power/High Voltage background
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
- Ability to work well within a team
- Desire to develop and learn new skills with ability to transfer existing skills to overcome new challenges
You’ll also need to feel confident to challenge the status quo, strive for perfect delivery and possess a willingness to get involved with every opportunity to develop yourself and put our customers first.
