Do you want to help end rough sleeping in Cambridge? Do you want to join a team that has an excellent track record of helping homeless families into safe, suitable accommodation? Do you have a passion for helping refugees into safe and secure accommodation?
As one of four Accommodation Finders working alongside the Council’s social lettings agency, Town Hall Lettings, you will help find homes in the private sector for couples and families through our Family Accommodation Finder service. This specialist role will be helping Ukrainian people and their families settle in and around Cambridge, but you will need to be responsive to other refugee groups that the Council has committed to assist.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has, or who shows ability to quickly develop an excellent understanding of the private rental market in Cambridge and the Cambridge sub-region, and a good understanding of private sector housing law. You will quickly become familiar with the various schemes the Council has introduced to make it easier for people on low incomes to find and sustain a private sector tenancy.
You will use this knowledge to negotiate with landlords while using your influencing skills to help prospective tenants to make realistic choices about their housing options. While working as part of a wider team, you will be given significant freedom to make decisions and show initiative.

Hours: This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week.

Contract: Fixed Term - one year from start date.
Salary: £31,586 - £35,235 per annum (City Pay Band 4), pro rata for part time.
Location: Hybrid/ Mandela House, Cambridge.
