We’ve also supported our apprentices to continue their studies to Master’s level and Chartered Status.
When will it start and how long will it last?
We are currently recruiting to start in September 2025. Our Higher Apprenticeships last for around five years, but yours will finish as soon as you’ve reached the required standards and gained the relevant qualifications.
Main Responsibilities
- You will work as part of our multi-disciplined engineering team delivering projects predominantly in the nuclear defence and decommissioning sectors, gaining experience at all phases of the design lifecycle, from concept through to detailed design for manufacture.
- You will be involved in the planning and executing of engineering and design activities, producing engineering drawings, documentation and calculations using tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, AR, VR, 3D printing etc.
- You will study towards a Level 6 Degree qualification with an approved Apprenticeship provider alongside your role.
The Person
- You will have an interest in engineering, design and CAD either though school or hobby activities and a curiosity in "making things" and "how things work".
- You will possess technical analysis and problem-solving skills.
- You will possess good communication skills and a desire to work as part of a team to help solve problems and implement effective solutions.
- You will have an awareness of, and interest in, the electrical and mechanical design function within an engineering organisation.
- You will have (or be working towards) a minimum of two A-Levels at grade C or above, including a mathematical-based subject and a science, technology, engineering or an additional mathematics-related subject; or an equivalent Level 3 Engineering BTEC/EAL Diploma at Merit Level or above. You will also have five GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths and a Science.
