Spire Healthcare Cardiff are looking to fill the role of Activity & Performance Manager. The successful candidate will be based at our hospital in Pontprennau on the outskirts of Cardiff.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Activity & Performance Managerto take a leading role in the effective management and optimisation of Outpatient and Theatre Capacity. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient use of hospital resources, meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and enhancing patient flow across our clinical areas, including Outpatient, Wards, Theatre and Pre-Assessment.

As a key member of the management team, you will work closely with clinical and operational teams to proactively manage hospital capacity, effectively managing waiting times, and improving the patient experience. You will be responsible for forecasting, planning and coordinating resources to ensure the hospital operates at maximum efficiency while maintaining high standards of care.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic capacity plans to optimise Theatre and Outpatient Utilisation
  • Working closely with the Senior Management Team to deliver budgeted activity in outpatients and theatres across all payor groups
  • To manage the patient flow and meet required volumes of NHS patients under contracts with various Health Boards
  • Work collaboratively with clinical teams, Wards, Theatres, Outpatients, and Pre-Assessment to ensure a seamless patient flow
  • Monitor and manage hospital capacity in real time, identifying and resolving any bottlenecks
  • Analyse data to forecast demand and capacity needs, ensuring targets and KPIS are met
  • Identify and implement process improvements o reduce delays and maximise efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and national healthcare standards
  • Be proficient in the use of IT systems, including Outlook Theatre Diaries and Excel, to track and report capacity planning metrics
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders to support operational decision making
  • To work with Spire utilisation tools and reports to support activity and attend and/or chair Capacity Meetings

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a high organised and analytical professional with a strong background in healthcare capacity planning and utilisation management. You should be comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment and have a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Previous experience of working in a similar capacity planning operation role within a healthcare environment.
  • Experience of working to strict deadlines within a complex business environment
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent IT proficiency, including experience with Outlook Theatre Diaries and Excel.
  • Methodical and systematic approach to work, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with senior clinical and operational teams.

Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 37.5hrs per week

Working Hours: Monday – Friday
