Job Description
The Low Carbon Regulated Asset Base (RAB) team consists of high-performing, collaborative, and flexible staff working on various exciting policy areas. Our work includes advising the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and His Majesty's Treasury (HMT) on regulatory and strategic issues, developing new financing approaches for large-scale energy investments, regulating new energy technologies and services, and creating policies crucial for meeting decarbonisation goals.
The team's current focus areas include Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES), carbon capture use and storage (CCUS), new nuclear investment, and hydrogen transport.
As part of a collaborative team of policy, finance, engineering, legal, and regulatory experts, new team members will manage aspects of the programmes.
Analyst (HEO/SEO/2a): We are recruiting two Analysts for policy implementation with an analytical, technical, or accounting focus on Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES). The LDES team is newly established following a government decision to appoint Ofgem to regulate a new cap and floor regime for LDES. The roles and the required analytical skills are similar. You will closely collaborate with other internal teams such as Regulatory Finance, Office for Research and Economics, and Legal, to design and implement new processes to improve policy development, implementation, and governance for our LDES cap and floor regime. We are looking for an independent thinker and a self-driven individual who can lead and deliver complex work areas effectively, and communicate actions and recommendations clearly and concisely.
You will report to the Head of LDES Delivery. The team leads the delivery of key regulatory assessments and decisions for approved LDES projects, designing a cap and floor regime, providing regulatory assurance and decision-making as projects move from development through to operation.
