Position Summary
Animators create high quality motion of computer graphics creatures and objects within a shot, using a variety of animation software programs, and working under the general supervision of Senior Animators/Animation Supervisors.
What you'll do:
- Responsible for the successful animation of a series of shots on a specific project.
- Participates as a team member in determining various aesthetic solutions; provides feedback to other members of the production by attending dailies on a regular basis.
- Maintains or exceeds a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work.
- Expected to ‘mentor’ entry level Animators and must be able to assist them with their shots.
- Performs other tasks related to the creation of computer-generated animation.
- Consistently deliver excellent results with minimal supervision and good time management
- Work proactively with other senior members of the team and across departments
- Understand and embody the company's and the department's values of collaboration, efficiency and problem-solving
- Anticipate technical challenges on shots and can plan and test solutions to find the most effective, aesthetic and technically sound result.
What we're looking for:
- Demonstrable experience working in computer animation with experience working on feature films.
- Expert knowledge of traditional animation principles, acting, film production and compositional design while demonstrating exceptional skills as an animator based as evidenced by portfolio, demo reel and references.
- Demonstrating resilience and efficiency in meeting time-sensitive goals
- Taking ownership of own work while taking on board ideas and suggestions
- Effective communicator with great interpersonal and organization skills
- Encouraging and empowering fellow artists
- Acting as a point of contact for other artists and disciplines
- Being aware of the wider show needs
- Expert knowledge of Maya, some knowledge of UNIX and shell scripting, proprietary and other software programs.
- Understanding of chaining and constraint techniques.
- Experience in a similar level position
- Familiarity with the CG production pipeline, as well as other production workflows at ILM, is considered a plus.
