As the Safety, Health and Environment Apprentice, you will support the Safety, Health and Environment advisory team within Electricity North West whilst developing your skills as the first step into the Safety, Health and Environment profession.

As a Safety, Health and Environment Apprentice, you can expect to:

  • Assist with Safety, Health and Environment administration requirements.
  • Assist with the development and review of respective safe systems of works.
  • Attend key Safety, Health and Environment Consultation meetings, and maintain minutes.
  • Assist in accident and incident reporting procedures.
  • Record and monitor group Safety, Health and Environment reporting requirements.
  • Interrogate Safety, Health and Environment data, in terms of maximising performance and addressing lagging indicators.
  • Assist in carrying out inspections & audits, writing reports and ensuring where required, follow-up of corrective actions are monitored and closed;
  • Assist in developing innovations within the group.
  • Assist in the identification and management of training requirements;
  • Use a variety of Microsoft Packages (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) to compose and update documents.
  • Learn about the legislation that is in place and how it must be applied.
  • You will engage with people to understand their behaviours and how these behaviours can be changed for the better.
  • You will assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents which can be used to learn and continuously improve.
  • You will learn about auditing and inspections and how to use them to drive change.

To be successful in this role, you will be an analytical thinker. You will also require the following:

  • GCSE Maths and English Language at A*-C or levels 4-9
  • The ability to analyse trends and articulate them within reports and verbally
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
  • A confident communicator who is able to speak with authority supported by trend analysis
  • A passion for safety and / or sustainability
  • A desire to learn new technical skills
