The Opportunity
Explore Manufacturing are seeking an Assistant Business Development Specialist to join the team at the Laing O'Rourke Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction, Europe's largest and most advanced pre-assembly manufacturing facility.
The investment in our own purpose-built facility, which opened in 2009, has united the power of our experience and knowledge of construction with state-of-the-art processes and technology, providing our clients with leaner, smarter and more cost-efficient options for the built environment.
This opportunity will be to support our business objectives to generate increased market share, improved profitability and customer relationships by streamlining the existing business processes and assisting with the development of new and existing business opportunities for Explore Manufacturing.
What will the role look like?
- Preparing and updating the Explore Manufacturing; presentations, capability statements and brochures to ensure they accurately present the specific product offerings, services and key capabilities for small, medium and large opportunities.
- Providing marketing and clerical support to the tendering process, specifically: - engaging with LOR Proposals team, Managing the governance requirements of the IGMS process, Gateway sign offs and the preparation the tender offer documents.
- Liaising with other work-winning functions (planning, estimating, purchasing, design management, contract management etc to assist with the bid process.
- Assisting with coordinating a unified tender response.
- Developing a suite of "bid" templates for Explore Manufacturing.
- Assisting with development of Explore Manufacturing dedicated website.
- Attending external business/technical meetings in support of new business opportunities as required.
- Conducting post contract customer feedback surveys.
- Collaborating with project teams and clients to develop successful social media campaigns.
- Engaging and communicating with new clients and design team consultants to obtain project information specific to the new business opportunities whilst administering a library/database of tender opportunities.
- Supporting the development and roll out of a streamlined version of the IGMS system such that it is specific to the requirements of Explore Manufacturing business unit.
- Representing our businesses at external functions, PR events, exhibitions, trade shows, launches.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Excellent communication skills, including telephone enquiries and written information.
- Good time management and planning skills, including the ability to work to deadlines.
- Recognise the need for (limited) out of hours working, including occasional overnight stays (say for attendance at Trade exhibitions, launches).
- Innovative approach to problem solving.
- Strong IT skills (additional training will be provided as necessary) for presentations, report writing, proposals preparation etc.
- Flexibility of approach, and self-organisational skills.
- Self-motivation to improve performance and accept increased responsibility.
- Enthusiasm and the ability to work as part of a winning team.
