Assistant Technical Manager
This pensions technical role within our Corporate and workplace pensions team plays an important part of supporting our business both in terms of ongoing proposition and pensions management but also in supporting our client facing teams and developing the firm's responses to regulatory consultations and rule changes.
The ideal person will be a customer focussed and credible individual who is already developing their career in the pensions industry, particularly in DC Workplace pensions.
The Corporate Pensions team at M&G is a busy team with multiple products and clients of all sizes and will give the opportunity for development and growth.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Under the direction of the technical manager and commercial managers, maintain and develop pension scheme policy documents to ensure ongoing compliance and reflection of current practice
- In consultation with the Technical Manager; provide direction, insight and guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure business integrity and compliance with legislation, regulation and industry best practice
- Support the Corporate Pensions client management team on retention strategy and support client managers as required where more detailed technical input is required
- Analyse changes in legislation and regulation to understand and identify any gaps in products / services, drive actions required to address any issues and ensure compliance
- With colleagues, provide product, regulatory, legislative, tax and trust support to the business and internal stakeholders (e.g. Operations etc) as required.
- Help ensure Corporate Pensions technical documentation / information is fit for purpose and compliant.
- Attend regulatory change meetings and advise on impacts for Corporate Pensions products.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- We are looking for a talented professional from the life and pensions industry with a proven background in Trust and Contract pension schemes who can interpret scheme rules, regulation and legislation and provide analysis to the business.
- Ability to deal with a wide range of business stakeholders at all levels within and outside the organisation. This is a collaborative role, working with various teams across the business as well as outsourced service providers and other third parties.
- Experience of developing technical and product documents, tools and support materials including experience of working in a technical discipline (e.g. pensions, bonds, tax, investments etc).
- Working knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors and regulators
