Associate Direct Marketing Specialist
Cambridge

The Role
As Associate Direct Marketing Specialist, you will qualify new marketing and sales leads through extensive prospecting activities. You will collaborate with sales and marketing colleagues throughout Europe, ensuring effective communication and teamwork. The role requires excellent attention to detail and the effective use of Excel to analyse customer data.

Responsibilities
- Proactively qualify and generate new marketing and sales leads through extensive prospecting activities.
- Drive market expansion by identifying and discovering sales opportunities at new NGS and Array accounts.
- Engage in open and collaborative communication with sales and specialist teams.
- Initiate interest and engage with leads to generate new business and expand Illumina’s customer database.
- Generate interest from new Illumina customers using various sources, including prospecting tools (LinkedIn SN, Monocl..), Google, association websites, and cold calling.
- Engage with customers via phone and email follow-up.
- Maintain high motivation to drive results, exceed departmental goals, and ensure a superior first-touch customer experience.
- Utilize technical and value-based knowledge to qualify and generate new high-quality leads from cold and warm outbound prospecting.
- Perform inbound lead qualification from marketing events and sourced inquiries.
- Execute outbound targeted campaigns created by marketing and sales.
- Develop an understanding of Illumina’s technology, products, and market segments.
- Analyse and interpret market trends to develop district-specific market outreach.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve quarterly departmental goals.
- Verify and qualify incoming leads and communicate them to the Sales team.
- Document all outbound efforts, including industry segmentation and account/lead information.
- Conduct baseline research within targeted accounts to identify key contacts and critical account information before prospecting calls.
- Relay valuable information to the team, including best practices, new features, and competitive pressures.
- Work with various departments (Global Marketing, Regional Marketing, Sales Team, Sales Operation, Field Support) on sourced inquiries and training.
- Engage in high-level analytical interpretation (Excel) to develop and interpret reports that result in new account/lead targets.
- Adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, demonstrating flexibility in meeting changing business needs.
- Contribute to Illumina’s team culture.
Requirements
- Proven ability to quickly develop expertise in highly technical products/services.
- Preferred but not essential: knowledge of genomics, genotyping, gene expression, sequencing, and pharmaceutical markets.
- Effective communication and influence skills for internal and external audiences, using both oral and written communication/presentation skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Data analysis and reporting skills is a plus.
- French or German speaking preferred.
Experience/Education
- Requires a Biology-based Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- MS or PhD in genetics or a related field is a plus.
- Broad knowledge of all areas within a particular corporate sub-function or a function within an operation.
- High-level understanding of markets and sales opportunities for the company’s products.
