Job Description
The purpose of this position to provide technical leadership in Safety Assurance across a range of projects, both single and multidisciplinary, and line management of the Safety Assurance team.
You will support the wider Egis team on future business development opportunities. This role may also include working on projects/bids internationally for Egis Transport Solutions or other Egis subsidiaries, including travel within the UK and Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Leadership acting as a key client interface at an associate director level, managing safety assurance staff and activities across a portfolio of projects
- Accountable for all aspects of system safety compliance, risk analysis and evaluation, preparation of safety products across the Safety Assurance team
- Ability to manage and co-ordinate system safety products, including systems definitions, Hazard Identification, system status records and system safety cases
- Manage and carry out hazard identification using hazard identification workshops (HazIDs), hazard and operability studies (HazOPs) and other methods
- Manage System Safety Hazard Records to capture details of the identified hazards
- Define the CSM-RA Risk Acceptance Principles to control the risk arising from each hazard and identifies potential Safety Measures to make the risk associated with the hazard acceptable
- Provide compliance evidence and work collaboratively with the Client and the Assessing Body (AsBo) to achieve the required Authorisations under Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) (ROGS) Regulations, and the Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2011, through the Safety Assessment Reports produced by the AsBo
- Provide compliance evidence to Approved Body (ApBo) and a Designated Body (DeBo) as independent assessors to ensure compliance with the RIR
- Interoperability compliance is achieved by the obtention of an Interim Statement of Verification (ISV)
- Ensure that associated products or systems, are fully compliant to the relevant and applicable National Technical Specification Notices (NTSNs)
- Develop Safety Case, Safety Process Management, Reliability analysis for all sub-systems
- Lead the team issuing and maintaining reports and logs (Hazard Log, RAM Management and Assurance Plan, Failure modes classification, RAM modelling plan, Safety requirements)
- Verify and Assess the design & construction requirements and the functionality of the design for reliability and safety purposes
- Lead the team processing Capability performance analysis and Root cause failure analysis
- Take ownership of and manage all System safety Assurance deliverables
- Ability to manage a team and effectively plan resource utilisation
- Stakeholder management providing clear direction across a broad audience
- Support in financial management, budgeting and cost control related activities
- Ability to advise, manage and agree contracts / consortium agreements with clients, manage programmes and deliverables
- Comply with responsibilities as defined in the Egis’ Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance with the same throughout the team.
- Complying with all aspects of Egis’ Quality Management Systems/Procedures
- Support the Egis in business development and tender opportunities
Qualifications
Essential:
- 10-15 years of experience in Engineering / Technical functions, with at least 5 years’ experience as a Principal Engineer / Associate.
- Excellent knowledge of technical and safety assurance regulations, railway infrastructure, systems, rolling stock and operations, including:
- Significant experience of developing and implementing strategies for projects and programmes.
- Excellent understanding of rail engineering, including Network Rail and associated rail standards, and related regulations (CDM, CSM, RIR).
- Proven capability in managing subject matter experts in rail, especially in multi-disciplinary environments.
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Excellent technical management, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Managing projects within commercial constraints
YOU MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK
Desirable:
- BSc or similar in bachelor’s degree (BEng, BSc) in a numerate, scientific or engineering subject or higher education/equivalent training and experience
- Chartered status, or equivalent, from a recognised institution
- Role within industry working groups and networks
- Relevant experience in the design, specification and procurement of infrastructure
- Wide knowledge of the rail environment appreciated
