About the Team


The Information Registry is Ofcom’s central team dedicated to coordinating and managing information requests across the organisation. The collection of accurate, complete and timely information from regulated companies is vital for Ofcom’s work.


The Information Registry team provides end-to-end operational support to policy teams across Ofcom, carries out advocacy work with stakeholders and monitors stakeholders’ compliance with their obligations. It forms part of Ofcom’s Enforcement team, which plays a critical role in ensuring that the regulation and policy we put in place to protect consumers and citizens is effective.


Purpose of the Role


You will work as part of the Information Registry helping to coordinate and manage Ofcom’s information gathering activities, engaging with project teams and external stakeholders, supporting our strategic projects as well as supporting enforcement casework where non-compliance arises.


Your key responsibilities


Helping to coordinate and manage information gathering activities and compliance investigations, through:


  • Proactively managing information request cases;
  • Producing written outputs for internal and external audiences;
  • Helping to build and manage stakeholder relationships to represent Ofcom professionally;
  • Applying governance processes and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements;
  • Identifying potentially difficult or sensitive stakeholder issues, seeking guidance to revert or contain the problem;and
  • Delivering high quality work to agreed timetables.


There is the opportunity to engage with some of our Online Safety work. This may involve exposure to distressing content and material but this can be discussed with successful applicants at interview stage. It is not compulsory to engage in this type of work.


The skills, knowledge and experience you will need for success


Executing Plans: You are able to proactively manage the life cycle of an information request workstream: organising tasks and setting clear goals while keeping an eye on progress. You have the ability to contribute to the design and planning of projects demonstrating excellent attention to detail.


Articulating ideas: You will need strong verbal and written communication skills. In this role you will represent Ofcom and the Information Registry in meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Drafting skills are important in developing clear documents including statutory information requests. You will have the ability to express your ideas, thoughts, and information in a clear and concise manner, ensuring messages are understood by everyone. You will actively participate in debates and discussions, contributing ideas.


Harmonising work: You can work effectively with others, creating an honest team environment and sharing valuable information and resources. You can work collaboratively with others to deliver a specific workstream within a larger project.


Evaluating problems: You will identify and solve issues by using well-thought-out strategies, considering different angles and potential solutions to resolve concerns.


Forming relationships: You are able to successfully build and nurture positive relationships with people inside and outside the organisation acting as a key contact and representative of the Information Registry and Ofcom.


IT skills: including the use of Microsoft Office products.
