This position will work directly for the Executive Director, Merchant Strategy, who reports to the Head of CCI Europe. The position will work directly on the following businesses: Global Oil and European Gas & Power. These businesses deploy capital across global energy markets and their primary functions are: Trading (both financial and physical energy) and Principal Investments (in energy assets).
The candidate will work on key aspect of strategy development and execution, evaluation of new business opportunities, operational excellence and effectiveness, evaluation of ongoing business performance, and financial planning. The ideal candidate has prior experience working in strategy consulting covering the energy, commodities, or asset management sectors. This is an excellent position for candidates looking to work in an entrepreneurial, small team environment with hands on exposure to a sophisticated trading and investment business.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in key aspects of strategy development and execution across multiple business units
- Prepare presentation materials for CCI’s senior leadership team and CCI’s board of directors
- Analyze competitive landscape and identify and evaluate new business opportunities
- Model financial and operations aspects of existing businesses
- Work closely with business heads to create business plans & monitor ongoing performance
- Assist in developing and implementing incentive compensation plans
- Work with finance teams to create annual budgets & key metric dashboards
- Work with operations and technology teams to drive operational efficiency
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in investment banking, strategy consulting or internal strategy; experience ideally would be in the energy, commodities, or asset management sectors
- Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university with a strong GPA
- Excellent financial modeling, presentation, oral, and written communication skills
- High degree of initiative and ability to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Some international travel will be required, primarily to the US
