Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong external client relationships as outlined in RGA’s Client Engagement Framework and Account Plans
- Working closely with other members of the Business Development team, lead RGA’s response to tenders and ad-hoc client queries in a timely manner, seeking input from other functions where required, and driving and monitoring progress
- Drive and monitor progress with the development of new products, services and initiatives, communicating with stakeholders and to clients as appropriate
- Monitor and report on key business deliverables, including client management and marketing activity, new business activity, and other KPIs of the protection business
- Work with Legal to ensure treaties are finalised in a timely manner, comply with RGA standards, and protect RGA’s interests. Manage the client relationship through the treaty negotiation process.
- Develop a strong understanding of key targeted clients’ mode of operation and deliver reinsurance solutions that help clients meet their strategic, financial, and operational objectives
- Make a strong contribution to building a “can do” mentality within the broader protection teams, driving a culture focused on client delivery that maintains RGA’s position as a leading reinsurance partner in the UK & Irish markets
- Enhance RGA’s reputation within the marketplace by establishing and building on relationships with key market participants and reinsurance buyers
- Enhance RGA’s brand by inputting into the UK marketing and branding strategy, and assisting with its implementation
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the UK life insurance / reinsurance market
- Strong understanding of (re)insurance underwriting, pricing, reinsurance treaties, and product development
- Business development and/or client account management experience a distinct advantage, alongside a track record of managing client and internal stakeholders and associated delivery
- Bachelor’s Degree, with relevant industry and / or actuarial qualifications an advantage
- Strong inter-personal skills and ability to interact effectively with employees and clients at all levels and across different departments
- Strong technical and commercial skills, with an ability to rationalise complex concepts and negotiate priorities for client requests
- Ability to plan and manage own time and several projects at once, delivering them to agreed schedules and communicating effectively.
- Exceptional ability to communicate (in differing styles) with all levels of local and global staff, clients and market influencers
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to stakeholders of differing technical backgrounds
- Seeks agreement or settlement in contentious or potentially contentious situations
