Business Development Manager – HS2 / Rail

Our customers include civil engineering and construction contractors, asset owners, and consulting engineering firms through to small builders.

We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager with experience in HS2 and in the Rail sector to support our growing Sales function, this is a fantastic role that will allow the successful candidate to up skill and develop through the company, you will find more details below.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of all frameworks, appointed contractors and schemes within the defined sectors
  • Create an agreed, targeted plan of engagement and delivery of brand-new growth revenue within the sector
  • Be the expert in the sector on frameworks, contacts, key decision makers and connections within the appointed contractors and authorities to realise new opportunities
  • Develop relationships within the frameworks of defined sectors, principal clients and delivery partners to promote and engage Mabey Hire as high ‘upstream’ in the specification process as possible
  • Liaise with the Head of National Accounts and RSDs to ensure these identified schemes are followed up successfully by the salesperson (SM, RSM or MP M) and recorded within CRM
  • Evaluate the industry sectors within which opportunities exist and align to the relevant customer.
  • Communicate and ensure understanding, within the business, of the market drivers and opportunities for development in each industry sector to grow the business.

What You Need

  • Experience in HS2
  • Sales and Business Development experience in a multi- site environment
  • Minimum of 3 years customer facing commercial experience in the hire or related industry
  • Civil Engineering or Construction sector
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue growth / business development.
  • A network of key client accounts
  • Highly honed interpersonal skills
  • Experience of negotiating quotations and managing the hire & installation process with customers

  • Initial telephone / Microsoft Teams call, the line manager or Human Resources may conduct this
  • Interview – In person, held by the line manager
