Description
Early Intervention and Family Support Services
Bromley Children Project, Children and Family Centre Support Worker
Salary scale: BR4; £23,955 - £24,125
Permanent post; full-time, 36hrs per week.
This is a public facing role working in our Children and Family Centres and does not support working from home.
This is not a key worker role; in this post you will not be allocated families to support on a one-to-one basis. This post is about supporting the running of our six Children and Family Centres. There are occasional Saturday morning sessions which are agreed in advance, but mostly this is working Monday to Friday.
A warm, friendly, ‘people-person’ with outstanding communication skills is required for these busy posts. A positive ‘can-do’ attitude is essential as the role supports the smooth running of the local authority’s six Children and Family Centres which means working across a variety of locations with different staff teams and families. We need an enthusiastic person with experience of working in a customer facing environment, who has the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Good local knowledge of services available to support parents and their children is key, as is being able to work flexibly and balance the needs of service users, whether parent or child, with the needs of the local authority. Working well within a team and having the confidence to share their ideas about how to improve the service offered, and support others in the team to do the same is essential. This requires the ability to think and work in a positive way whether working with colleagues or the public. Basic knowledge of administration and IT is required.
There will be a competitive selection process which will assess candidates’ application statement against the requirements in the Person Specification, as well as their performance at interview and responses to a range of tests which will encompass a multitude of the skills/knowledge areas described in the person specification.
This is not a virtual role. The post holder will be required on site daily.
Applications should fully address the person specification as they will be competitively shortlisted against this.
All appointments will be offered at the minimum salary point for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
The successful candidate will require a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
We welcome candidates that reflect our local communities.
If you have any questions about the role, please contact Marion Finn or Donna Johnson on 020 8461 7259.
Closing date for applications: midnight Sunday 05 January 2025.
Interviews: will be held on Monday 20 January 2025.
