Anglian Water has created a new delivery enterprise - the Strategic Pipeline Alliance. “SPA” is creating hundreds of kilometres of new, interconnecting pipelines to help combat the impact of climate change and keep fresh, clean water flowing across the Anglian Water region.
The new network is one of the largest infrastructure projects for a generation and is a complex and challenging major infrastructure project.

Working as a talented Civil Engineer within a multi-disciplinary project team, you’ll provide the civil engineering technical capability and design expertise to develop and deliver water and water recycling solutions.
Provide designs which are innovative and deliver value for money whilst acting as a proactive problem solver by applying engineering principles. Lead by reviewing the mandate and preparing a scope, methodology, programme, and resource estimate for implementing the design stage of the project and design support during construction.
You will be embedded within the SPA delivery team and be responsible for supporting a section of the design output. You undertake a workload and liaise with Production Line Leads, Design Leads, and other discipline Designers alongside this role. In your section, you will have graduate assistants and be responsible for design output, information flow and consistency of approach. Within your immediate team lead both the production and detailed design elements of either Civils pipelines, pump stations or break tank design.

Responsibilities
- Provide designs which are innovative and deliver value for money whilst acting as a proactive by applying engineering principles. You will be a problem-solver, calculations and specifications to ‘Issued for Construction’ standard for water, wastewater or pipeline projects, liaising directly with CAD technicians to enable production of either 3D models or 2D drawings.
- Working within multi-discipline design teams to produce design outputs which are on time, within budget and meet the required standards, whilst liaising with stakeholders including Operations, SPA Planners, contractors, and delivery teams along the way.
- Be responsible for the development of technical solutions from concept selection through design development leading both the production and detailed design elements of either Civils pipelines, pump stations or break tank design.
- Take ownership to deliver design and associated activities in your section of the SPA programme of works.
- Drive excellence in Health and Safety in design by eliminating hazards and reducing risks during design whilst complying with Alliance CDM procedures.
- Progress projects from feasibility stage through detailed design to construction.
- Undertake site visits to assess current condition of our assets for feasibility studies, reports and provide survey data for integration of the asset into our design solution.
- Provide support to update existing, and increase the number of, Standard Products that are used within our design solutions on a repeatable basis.
- Identify and promote opportunities to meet the project digital, sustainability, innovation and people objectives.
- Degree/HNC level qualification in a relevant engineering subject
