Role profile
Our Sales and Marketing team is looking for a Client Relationship (CRD) and Business Development (BD) Manager to join them in our Bristol or London office.
This is a high profile blended CRD / BD role that will sit in The Built Environment. There is a heavy focus on driving profitable growth from existing UK client relationships (CRD). The wider focus will be on BD activities which help drive income growth and support pitch wins, supporting the team's international growth.
CRD will be the heaviest focus of this role.
You will be leading on the delivery of profitable growth from existing UK clients. You will be working closely with the Partners and Lawyers for each of these accounts and will have the support and guidance from our central CRD team.
You will also work closely with the wider population of Partners and Lawyers to help find and capture enhanced cross selling opportunities. You will be working closely with our Marketing team who support the individual service line experts.
BD is the secondary focus for this role.
You will also be the BD lead for two of our sector expert teams: 'Regeneration' and 'Hotels and Leisure'. For these teams you will be developing and executing BD activity that improves both our market profile and new client wins in this part of the market.
Across both parts of this role you would be providing critical input in the UK Sector Planning and Budgeting processes and using your client and market insights to support the bids process.
Across all activity you will be supporting profitable growth, continuous improvement to ROI and ensuring our ongoing alignment with wider sector and firm strategies.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Leading on the profitable growth of our most important sector clients, working with these client teams (Partners & Lawyers) to identify and capture additional opportunities for profitable growth
- Using sector/market understanding and working closely with the service line lead experts and the marketing teams to improve the success of our cross selling programme
- Embedding and managing CRD best practice across the sector's client base (working alongside our central CRD team) and taking responsibility for the smooth and effective running of the CRD programme in The Built Environment
- Leading on the BD activity to support our 'Regeneration' and 'Hotels and Leisure' specialist teams. You will be instrumental in these teams being able to build market profile, identify and progress their new client opportunities maintaining a critical eye on ROI
- Providing critical market and client intelligence into the bids process to support our bid win rate
- Taking leadership for the internal communications that support the ongoing engagement and successful running of the sector
- Working closely with the Senior BDM and Sector Leadership team to draft and manage the sector's UK business plans and budgets
This is a high profile and busy role which will work closely with the Sector Leadership team, the Senior BDM and a wide number of key stakeholders across the business.
You'll work collaboratively with our communications, marketing, CRD, events, thought leadership and bids teams to ensure the sector is benefitting from the expertise and tools that these teams produce. This role will have the support of a Senior BDM, BD Executive and BD Assistant.
What We're Looking For
This role would suit someone who has a balance of strengths across relationship building, business development but who also works well with processes.
You'll need to be self-motivated, confident in using your own initiative and have real strength in designing, implementing and running the full lifecycle of a project.
Skills
You'll have a proven track record of delivering profitable growth via client relationship management and wider BD activity within a legal or professional services environment. You'll also have the following skills and attributes:
- A strong ability to initiate projects and see them through to a successful completion, this includes breaking down problems and working through challenges to ensure successful delivery
- Demonstrate a balance of creativity, adherence to established processes and a commercial mindset
- Commitment to delivering on objectives in line with the sector and firm strategies
- Strong communicator with the ability to build credibility and influence senior management teams and partners
- Excellent project management skills, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing projects efficiently
- Have a proactive and results driven approach
- Be truly collaborative, working with a wide range of people and teams to capture additional opportunities
- Able to think systematically and will manage, improve, and adapt processes effectively
