YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?
We are looking for individuals with experience in the coastal flood and erosion risk management sector to support our ever-growing portfolio of coastal and waterfront projects.
We have multiple roles available for the right candidates, offering fantastic prospects for chartered or near chartered engineers/ scientists to work with our highly experienced team across a range of UK and overseas projects.
There is a requirement for commercial aptitude and the ability to manage and control budgets and programmes but primarily to contribute to technical development and leadership.
As part of the role you will be required to collaborate with other areas of the business and opportunities exist to lead multi-disciplinary teams and a range of stakeholders, acting as the key point of contact to the client.
You will also provide mentoring, training and leadership to our junior staff.
YOUR TEAM
We are a dynamic and growing team of coastal specialists with the capability to plan, design and deliver coastal defence and waterfront development projects as well as a growing portfolio of habitat creation schemes and offshore/ renewable energy projects.
WSP’s coastal team is spread nationally and work on a range of projects from strategies/ feasibility studies, asset management/ condition assessment, numerical modelling studies, business case/ options assessment, detailed design, consenting and construction support.
Our portfolio of work spans the public and private sectors and ranges from small but locally important projects to large multidisciplinary and international projects.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:
- Proven technical ability and experience in any relevant field including coastal engineering, coastal science/ oceanography, physical processes/ numerical modelling.
- Commercial awareness and ability to manage work packages/ projects.
- A proven track record in delivering projects to programme.
- Gained or near Chartered Civil Engineer/ Scientist status.
- Ability to act as the client contact and maintain and develop client relationships.
- Good people management skills including mentoring early career professionals.
- Business development skills.
- Knowledge of the UK flood and coastal management industry, including environmental permitting and engagement with regulatory bodies, local authorities and statutory consultees.
