Commercial Lead (Maternity Cover)
About the role:
The Commercial Lead is a key business partner across the agency, working with; Commercial and Agency Leadership to deliver proactive management information; the client teams and clients directly to ensure that their accounts are running compliantly and profitability; the product teams to ensure that projects are properly scoped; and the Growth Team to provide commercially compelling responses to new business proposals, seeing proposals through to final contract negotiation (alongside the Legal team where required).
As a senior member of a strong proactive Commercial unit, you will be expected to deliver consistent commercial analysis and insight, and support to the wider business, targeting margin growth and driving incremental revenue opportunities.
In this role, you will:
- Business partner with client leaders and product teams – leading with (re)negotiation of contracts for existing and new clients, setting terms of business which reflect scope of work and ensure profitability.
- Coordinate revenue forecasts, providing a detailed understanding of any variances, supporting FP&A and leadership teams in providing executive level MI.
- Understanding accepted terms and conditions of clients and communicate these to business associates.
- Oversee the delivery of any contractually required client commercial reporting
- Both lead and instigate commercial projects as business needs arise.
- Provide leadership on forecasting, management, and reporting of OMI (‘OMI’ - Other Management Income, includes Media Credits, Rebates and Early Payment Discounts).
- Oversee client audits liaising with third party audit firms; reviewing final draft reports and provide support across the projects to mitigate agency exposure.
- Review and approve scopes of work ensuring that fees are appropriate and aligned with client contracts.
- Coordinate closer management of scopes of work to capture any scope creep.
- Summarise and disseminate key contract terms to both ensure ongoing compliance, and proactively identify opportunities to grow.
- Review any commercial information provided for prospective clients such as for RFI / RFPs.
- Lead on commercial proposals for pitch situations, adding fresh insight into written commercial proposals.
- Lead the review and negotiation of client contracts, drafting, and finalising of all commercial terms, ensuring compliance with group policy.
- Regularly review client profitability and work with client teams to optimise
- Support on Staff utilisation and project profitability across product lines.

- Product and client knowledge – ability to quickly learn our product suite and proprietary media offering and be able to explain each product offering and their benefits to clients;
- Operational Excellence – identifies opportunities to improve performance and evolve excellence benchmarks that drive flawless transactions, services, and products;
- Persuasion and Influence – possesses a variety of skills to create discussion, reach an agreement and create outcomes, affecting the action, behaviours, and opinions of others;
- Multitasking and Prioritisation – adapts to rapidly changing events and environments whilst accurately judging priorities and keeping track of details. Balances several projects and tasks simultaneously with minimal error and without losing track of important details or deliverables.
