A standout opportunity for a commercial property lawyer looking for a Bristol based role with a focus on the charities and ecclesiastical sector. You're most likely at the early to mid-stages of your qualified career, looking to join a Top 100 UK law firm that's going from strength to strength.
About us
We're a Top 100, full-service UK law firm with around 560 employees. With 4 offices in Bristol, Birmingham, London and Watford, you'll be struck by our close-knit and friendly culture. We believe in integrity and authenticity- in each one of us being ourselves both in our interactions with each other as well as with our clients. With a reputation not just for the quality of our work, but also for the qualities of our people, we strive to recruit individuals who are proactive and passionate about what they do and able to demonstrate humour and humility in equal measure.
Our role
This role presents the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial property issues, including landlord and tenant matters, site acquisition, funding, and ownership, but with a particular focus on advising clients within the charities and ecclesiastical sectors. You'll be joining a team led by respected Partner, Sarah Outram, who is highly experienced in the field, where you’ll have the chance to help mission-driven clients navigate complex property-related challenges in a straightforward and empathetic manner.
Here at VWV, we have a long-standing reputation in the charity and ecclesiastical law sector, with accolades for our expertise from Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500. This role will allow you to gain exposure to high-quality client work from day one, helping you feel valued and supported. If you’re a bright, enthusiastic lawyer with a grounding in commercial property, but eager to focus on a meaningful and specialised area, this is an excellent opportunity.
About you
First and foremost, you'll be a bright and engaging individual with strong grounding in commercial property and an equally strong sense of commerciality. You'll ideally be working at Solicitor or Associate level, having gained exposure to a wide variety of commercial property work, and are now excited by the prospect of specialising in one particular sector. Whilst some exposure to charities and ecclesiastical work would be preferred, we certainly don't expect you to have worked in this sector. If you're bright, enthusiastic, and willing to learn, then we'd love to hear from you. Some exposure to supervising paralegals would also be highly advantageous, although not essential.
As a team, we pride ourselves on developing long-term working relationships with our clients. Due to the technical nature of some of our work, strong communication skills and the ability to empathise with our clients, are qualities that will stand you in good stead for this role.
Here at VWV, we recognise that each one of us is an individual. We are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. If you require any special adjustments to be made in order to be considered for this role, then please do call us (see contact details in the "How to Apply" section below), as we will be happy to do so.
Where will I be working?
At VWV we have a truly unique and engaging culture that we hold dear. We work hard but we also love to have fun and we recognise that it's the social interaction between us that really shapes our culture. Whilst we operate a hybrid model of working, for this role we would like you to work from our newly refurbished Bristol office at least 3 days of the week. In this way, you'll benefit first-hand from our warm and friendly culture as well as facilitate cross referral opportunities from your colleagues in other teams. We are of course happy to discuss any specific requirements of hybrid working with candidates on an individual basis.
How to apply
Whilst we're known for our friendly and welcoming culture, we know that making the next career move can be daunting. And we've all been there!
