Job Overview: This specialist will work closely with our Finance Director to lead the development and implementation of the commercial function within the business to ensure planned level of commercial return & gross profit improvements through MI, Pf, rate card and Utilisation improvements.

Key Accountabilities in the role:
- Lead the development of commercial pricing strategies to include rate card management to align with service offers and market benchmarks in obtaining the budget profitability.
- Financial modelling for pricing of new services, markets and commercial viability reviews, help direct and inform pricing strategies allowing the Group to take best advantage of market opportunities.
- Create and develop pricing models to allow Sales, Tendering & Engineering teams to got to markets.
- Provide the BI to support and place governance around pricing strategies to demonstrate effectiveness.
- Review all new client and supplier contracts, ensuring financial & commercial risk is mitigated as appropriate prior to final sign-off by the CFO & COO.
- Support the development of major bids through risk analysis and project cost forecasting to maximise win rate and contribute to bid/no-bid decisions based on analysis.
- Oversee the negotiation and sign-off of high-value contracts to ensure control and management of commercial and contractual risk.
- Act as a member of the Tender Board to evaluate, approve, and progress tenders to the next stage in the process, and develop and maintain Tender Board governance to ensure due process is followed when evaluating opportunities and risk vs. reward.
- Implement and lead resource planning activity to ensure utilisation and headcount levels are matched in line with short and mid-term forecasts.
- Working with the project delivery community, identify bid going in PF and ensure delivery at or above this level.
- Builds but pre- and post-contract project management capability to coordinate this transition.
- Provide input into the development of business plans at the departmental level by producing management information, financial forecasting, and challenging senior leaders to deliver growth.
- Align operational systems and procedures to maximise effectiveness and drive compliance with all systems to ensure the integrity of data used in the decision-making process
- Conduct regular client and project reviews encompassing commercial and operational performance to identify opportunities for improvements in billability and feed these into margin improvement strategies to support the achievement of budget targets
- MI – Develop MI strategy to support growth and key KPI’s to support overall business and departmental areas. Review month end reporting to ensure accurate, timely & insightful data is produced in the most efficient manner.
- Adhoc activities and projects as directed by the CFO
We are looking for:
- Strong commercial strategy awareness and attention to detail
- RFPs/RFQs, and contract negotiations experience
- Relevant education background and experience with engineering, consultancy or project background
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in finance and accounting systems, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Thorough understanding of financial control processes and compliance
- Ability to interpret and analyse multiple data sources to provide meaningful insights and recommendations
