Job Purpose:
This role is an important component of the Company’s second line of defence compliance function, providing proactive support and guidance to business areas to ensure that the Company meets its regulatory and risk obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Compliance, the key responsibilities of the role include the following:
Compliance Monitoring & Reporting
Assisting the Director of Compliance with compliance monitoring and reporting activities, including;
- Assisting with the development of the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan
- Maintaining the annual Compliance diary and take ownership for project managing the delivery of all required activities, under the guidance of the Director of Compliance
- Preparing draft regulatory returns to the FCA, PRA, CBI and JFSC, for approval by the Director of Compliance, and then submitting final returns
- Carrying out reviews and investigations and following up on agreed actions as required
- Preparing draft reports for reporting of Compliance activities to Munich Re and HSB IIC as required, for review by the Director of Compliance
- Creating and implementing a routine compliance monitoring report, to report on activities delivered by Compliance, bringing together sanctions, licencing, complaints, AML, ABC, Fraud, Gifts and Hospitality
- Drafting policy updates for review
Corporate Governance
- Supporting the review of Compliance owned policies and procedures, ensuring any regulatory developments are updated
- Preparing gap analyses of new regulations for review by the Director of Compliance
- Drafting updates to the Company Management Responsibilities Map
Horizon Scanning
- Assisting in proactively monitoring changes to laws, regulations, and group company policies and procedures that may impact the Company and identify any changes required to Company policies, procedures or processes.
Training & Competence
- Reviewing and administering on-line compliance-related training modules and CPD records.
- Following up non-completion of training with relevant business owners
Business, Project, and Group Monitoring and Support
- Building strong and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, in order to investigate and respond to ad hoc compliance-related queries from the business as required
- Proactively engaging in Company and group company projects by providing compliance support and advice to project stakeholders and ensuring compliance considerations are identified and incorporated into business requirements and system designs as appropriate
- Drafting responses to external and internal queries on the Company’s adoption of new Compliance regulations, including the new Consumer Duty requirements
- Working with Compliance teams within the wider Munich Re group to help ensure alignment to global processes and maintain lines of communications.
Key Skills & Experience Requirements:
Essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Ability to work remotely where required
- Strong skills in planning, organising and prioritisation
- Skilled in both Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable
- Basic understanding of UK regulatory requirements.
- Experience delivering compliance monitoring activities within a regulated environment
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
- GCSE level Maths and English
- A-Levels (or equivalent).
