We're looking for an experienced, creative and authoritative writer for a newly-created position in our Corporate Affairs team. Working at Group level, reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs, you will help position Starling Bank and sister companies to a range of external and internal audiences, in the UK and abroad.
Your work will take many forms, from senior executive speeches, op-eds, white papers and LinkedIn posts to video scripts presenting financial concepts in clear and simple language. You'll be equally comfortable leading an editorial project team in Starling's offices and drafting a topical briefing at home.
You'll be passionate about Starling Group's mission to change banking for good. And you'll share our mission of demystifying banking and banking technology through content that is precise, jargon-free and human.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Writing senior executive op-eds, speeches, thought leadership articles, reports, presentations and briefings
- Supporting the Corporate Affairs team in producing C-suite creative social media content that articulates the bank's strategic goals and initiatives
- Developing content for the company's external engagement campaigns with a variety of stakeholders, nationally and internationally
- Developing supporting materials (e.g. infographics, reels) in collaboration with Starling's Studio design team
- Collaborating closely with colleagues from other departments, both to acquire insights and to understand their commercial objectives
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as English, Economics, History, Politics (a master's degree is a huge plus)Experience in journalism, corporate communications, public relations or politics. At least 5 years of experience in:- Creating compelling material for internal and external audiences
- Writing for and interacting with business leaders
- Producing copy for a variety of channels, including social, broadcast, podcast, and video
- Proven ability to:
- Capture authentic stakeholder voices in remarks, speeches, presentations, and other written material
- Identify suitable stories and messages and pitch them to senior leaders
- Work in an agile fashion under tight deadlines
