A leading multinational organisation based in Reading is looking for a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join its Group Legal team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a corporate / commercial lawyer to provide vital legal support to strategic business initiatives, collaborating with senior stakeholders and regional counsels to lead and shape complex projects from initiation to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on corporate matters, from due diligence and structuring through to negotiation and closing, with an emphasis on protecting the organisation’s interests.
- Shape critical business decisions with senior stakeholders, covering project scope, strategy development for works councils, and addressing legal risks in key areas, including environmental law, employment, and commercial contracts.
- Assess, obtain, and challenge external legal counsel’s advice on high-stakes issues, ensuring practical alignment with business strategies.
- Manage legal aspects of significant transactions and operational activities, supporting cross-functional teams and coordinating with Senior Legal Counsel and external advisors as needed.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Qualified solicitor with 4-6 years post-qualification experience,
- Proven background in a corporate team within a leading law firm and/or in-house setting, with a broad understanding of commercial issues and strong experience in drafting, negotiation, and communication (both written and verbal).
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities, with a proactive approach to delivering legal advice and clear solutions within business timelines.
- High level of legal analysis and commercial judgement, with a keen attention to detail and a balanced, practical approach to managing risk.
- Business-oriented, self-motivated professional able to manage multiple priorities independently.
