Role Introduction

An exciting opportunity to join a dedicated, enthusiastic team of data protection experts, grow your knowledge and skills, and progress your career in Data Protection.

Being one of OneAdvanced’s Data Protection team’s subject matter experts on all aspects related to Data Protection, the Data Protection Analyst role reports into the role of Senior Data Protection Manager, which in turn reports into the Global Data Protectcion Officer, who is ultimately responsible for providing global advice on Data Protection Legislation, and maintaining and improving privacy maturity across the OneAdvanced business. The role also works closely with other colleagues within the Legal team, such as Senior Data Privacy Counsel, as well as colleagues across the global business, which we serve in our second line defence position. The role offers plenty of scope for training and development for the successful candidate, as well as future opportunity for promotion to the job role of Data Protection Manager.

What You Will Do

The Data Protection Analyst role comprises undertaking activities in four key areas:

Policy & Awareness

Collaborating on revision of existing data protection policies, procedures, guidance and training material to ensure they are compliant with current data protection legislation, mature and embedded across the business.

Developing and delivering central training and awareness initiatives on data protection, including bespoke training for high-risk roles within the business, such as Sales, Marketing and HR.

Collaborating on revision of the Data Protection Impact Assessment process and documentation, making recommendations for continuous improvement.

Advice and Guidance

Assessing the need for, and undertaking, Data Protection Impact Assessments using OneAdvanced’s tools, identifying remedial steps required, ensuring that mitigations out of the DPIA process are recorded, that significant data protection risks are owned by the appropriate accountable role within the business, and recorded centrally.

Providing advice and guidance to Advanced business areas on data protection issues, requirements and controls via the data protection mailbox, ensuring the mailbox is organised, queries are logged, tracked, and recorded appropriately.

Creating and maintaining content on The Data Protection Hub to provide colleagues with central resources relating to key data protection topics.

Incidents and Rights Requests

Supporting the Data Protection team and wider business with rights requests from data subjects. Liaising with data subjects in relation to such requests to ensure they are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

Collaborating on incidents and escalating in accordance with severity.

Information Management

Collaborating on creation and roll out of brand new policies in light of OneAdvanced 3.0, such as global Data Retention and Information Classification.

Driving implementation of new team systems, including a new Records of Processing platform, ticketing system for Data Protection, and coordinating updates to Records of Processing from across the business.

Providing key performance indicator metrics to senior level committees to demonstrate the health status of OneAdvanced’s privacy maturity.

What You Will Have

Essential Criteria

You have experience of operating within a data protection environment, have acquired a good level of knowledge, and can apply it in a clear and practical way which is understood by stakeholders.

You have a thirst to learn more and hone your data protection knowledge and ability to apply it pragmatically, are able and willing to take the initiative, and are enthusiastic about your own personal career development. If you do not hold an appropriate data protection qualification, you will be prepared to achieve one quickly.

You are a team player, willing to learn and lend a hand to colleagues who require help, and are also able to ask for help when needed.

You have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, using a range of information and resources to reach sound conclusions.

You communicate in a straightforward, honest and engaging manner, choosing appropriate styles to maximise understanding and impact.

You develop, implement, maintain and review processes and services to ensure delivery of professional excellence to the wider business, who are our customer.

You enjoy working with, and managing implementation of, new technology, and are able to take the lead on projects requiring input from colleagues around the wider business.

You have excellent working knowledge of how to use the suite of MS Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Desirable Criteria

You hold an appropriate data protection qualification, such as CIPPE, CIPPM, PC.dp or equivalent

You have at least three years’ experience working in a Data Protection-related role
