Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. Responsibilities:
The Data Centre Engineering CSA Lease Lead will be responsible for:
- The CSA requirements of the lease portfolio, AI design, retrofits and upgrades of existing facilities.
- Give technical direction to our vendors who include professional civil engineers, professional architects and professional structural engineers. supporting technical growth, and the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacentre designs
- Collaborate with Global Technical Excellence team, Global Strategy teams and DCE Operations Team to develop the datacentre designs from basis of design (BOD) to issue for constructions (IFC) and through the Construction Administration phase of datacentre until handover for new DC project build-outs.
- Lead the direction of the CSA technical delivery and oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacentre design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules and budgets of the projects
- Identifies opportunities to affect downstream execution of projects by resolving issues and implementing design trade-offs within scope.
- Learn, live, and coach the One Microsoft culture and values. Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success.
- Apply best practice in Health & Safety throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the Site Acquisition, Site Selection, Operations, Security, Design teams and external stakeholders to ensure Microsoft requirements are met within the Lease portfolio.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Structural or Civil Engineering
- Registered Architect or Professional Engineer
- Technical understanding of mission critical environments.
- Experience in managing and coordinating multi-discipline and cross functional organisations.
- Ability to lead a team of engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large datacentre environments.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Indepth experience in mission critical projects (Datacentres, Pharma and/or Micro-Electronics projects or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to write, speak, and present information effectively and persuasively
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead and be proactive
- Excellent problem-solving, judgment, team building, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Architect or Professional Engineer or equivalent per country of residence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Structural or Civil Engineering
