As a Design Engineer specializing in Body Interior, you will be responsible for the development and refinement of interior components for our automotive projects. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of cutting-edge vehicle interiors while adhering to quality, safety, and legal standards. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to outreach activities focused on schools and education, promoting STEM initiatives within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop increased knowledge and skills in body interior design, focusing on specific responsibilities within the field.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for assignments of limited complexity.
- Collaboratively use judgment to determine adaptations to standard practices, particularly in small work packages.
- Undertake defined assignments, including 3D CAD geometry development and workflow development.
- Prepare project documentation, including models, drawings, reports, and other relevant materials.
- Assist in various tasks across departments and functions as required, contributing to schedules and budgets for familiar tasks.
- Take ownership of relevant sections within the body interior design process, managing interfaces with styling and ensuring occupant positioning.
- Provide engineering responsibility for full vehicle interior systems, including fascia, tunnel, seating, restraints, instrument and controls, lower and rear trim, upper trim, closure trim, and HVAC.
- Implement design for manufacture and assembly principles for responsible components, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- Manage work package assignments, conducting design sizing analysis and assembly level simulations.
- Consider cost, timing, and mass factors in design decisions, contributing to overall project objectives.
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
- Previous experience in body interior design or related fields within the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software and design tools.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and design methodologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering or a related field.
