Salary: Up to £36.55 per hour

We have an opportunity for a Dietician to join their team of staff in the Nursing Department.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria

  • BSc Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
  • Registered Dietitian Member of the Health & Care Professions Council
  • Documented Evidence of Continual Professional Development (CPD)
  • Evidence of clinical assessment
  • Maths, English GCSE at grades A to C or equivalent functional skills level 2 evidence.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems.
  • 2 year post graduate experience
  • Post registration experience relevant to nutrition and dietetics
  • Supervision of assistants and / or students.
  • Previous experience working within the acute healthcare sector.

Duties Of This Role Include

  • Support the team to deliver care that helps improve the health of the individual and wider community.
  • Support the team in demonstrating compassion through effective relationships based on empathy, respect and dignity.
  • Develop own competence to deliver effective care and treatments through improving clinical/technical knowledge / skill, and expertise.
  • Communicate appropriately with others involved in the care of the patient.
  • Act as an advocate for safeguarding patients; demonstrate courage to speak up when there are concerns about care.
  • Demonstrate commitment to improving care and the patient experience.
  • To manage a caseload of people who have complex needs within the in-patient setting using evidence-based, person-centred principles to assess, plan and evaluate specialist dietetic interventions.
  • To provide the dietetic input within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Working in liaison with the catering providers to ensure that the menus provided offer a balanced diet and supplementary diet were required and the menus reflect the choices of the people accessing services.
  • Working towards agreed objectives and demonstrating CHG behaviours at all time.
  • To provide dietetic assessment and advice service to patients and their carers.
  • Participate in group work with colleagues from the multi-disciplinary disciplinary team to ensure that dietetic perspectives are a core element of groups.
  • Demonstrate understanding of national guidelines and legislation relating to Nutrition and Dietetics and their impact on service provision, for example, National Service Framework and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines.
  • Establish rapport with people accessing services, their families or their carers who may sometimes display hostile and challenging behaviours, using a variety of motivational techniques so as to optimise engagement in dietetic therapy.
  • Sensitively communicate to the person accessing services and the family, the physical, psychological, behavioural and social complications and implications that will develop if the presenting problem is untreated.
  • Identify ways to overcome potential barriers to effective communication and understanding.
  • Participate in the development of relevant educational materials for service users and staff with the clinical speciality.
  • Commitment to ensuring quality services are delivered to both internal & external stakeholders through continuous improvement activities.
  • Compliance with CHG Policies and Procedures relevant to this role, ensuring you are fully aware of your responsibilities within these policies.
