Title: Digital Communications Manager
Responsible to: Director of Communications
Purpose: To manage BGC’s digital and social media engagement, ensuring the best possible impact from our digital communications.
This includes creating and publishing digital assets, maintaining social media and website content, planning and delivering campaigns, monitoring and evaluating impact across BGCs digital platforms, and assisting the Director of Communications as required.
Location: Primarily based in our Westminster offices with some working from home.
Salary: Up to £50,000 + bonus and benefits
Key responsibilities
1. Digital and social media management
Work with the Director of Communications to ensure the effective planning and implementation of a multi-channel communications strategy across digital and social media;
As directed, manage BGC’s digital content and delivery of key messaging across all digital platforms, including updating and regularly reviewing the BGC website;
As required, create and deliver digital, video, audio and print content and assets;
Establish and manage monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes on the impact of BGC’s digital profile across all platforms;
Use evaluation data to deliver greater impact via a range of digital tools including SEO, AB testing etc;
Ensure and manage the BGC brand integrity across all digital platforms;
Produce clear reports and updates to senior management and members as necessary;
Advise and assist the wider BGC team in their use of digital and social media;
Ensure the effective management of any BGC committees and working groups relating to digital communications, including chairing meetings where appropriate, ensuring content and materials are prepared, agreeing the agenda, and ensuring accurate minutes are produced.
2. Other communications and management
As required, work with the Director of Communications to prepare and manage all communications materials;
Assist with the creation and delivery of internal and membership content to ensure the effective communication of BGC’s work for members;
Assist with drafting press releases, blogs and other content as necessary;
As required, and on rotation with others, be the ‘out of hours’ contact for media and communications, including occasionally being required to respond to urgent issues as they occur;
Work with the Director of Communications to identify new strategies and techniques to promote and enhance the reputation and positive profile of the BGC and its members;
Work with the Director of Communications to develop appropriate responses to media enquiries;
Assist, create and manage and evaluate as required innovative campaign and event content including for key annual initiatives such as Safer Gambling Week and the Annual General Meeting.
3. External relations
Establish, develop and maintain as necessary appropriate working relationships with BGC members, the media, and other external stakeholders;
Proactively look for opportunities to build relationships with external stakeholders, including with journalists, influencers and other media stakeholders;
As required and directed, work with external consultants and other contractors to support BGC’s communications work.
4. Internal relations
Work with others across the BGC team to support the effective delivery and communication of workstreams from our strategic plan, including the wider use of digital and social media;
Provide advice to senior colleagues on digital innovation and advances that may improve BGC’s digital work in future;
Work with others to build a strong, supportive and impactful team in the BGC.
