SCOPE OF ROLE
In this role as EVH Cable Jointer, you will carry out EHV cable jointing, terminating and associated works on Fluid-Filled and XLPe cables up to and including 275kV. Candidates must have experience of jointing both XLPE or fluid filled cables within the voltage range of 33kV to 275kV.
HOW YOU`LL SUCCEED
- High standard of professionalism of jointing and associated works within a given area, ensuring that all work is conducted safely and in compliance with company policies
- Ensure high productivity and efficiency through effective control and utilisation of resources, operating within the appropriate Safety Management system as defined by HS (G) 65 and the Board of Directors
- Work closely with the EHV Management team to ensure that all processes and activities are carried and completed in accordance with the approved procedures
- Understand the scope of works, programme of works with the activities to meet delivery timescales
- Assess the level of risk and identify any health and safety risks! financial risks and the development of the associated contingency plans
- Assist the team to produce method statements and risk assessment as required
- Accept full responsibility for the compliance with the Construction Design and Management Regulation (CDM) 2007 for the personal safety, safety of all project team members and safety of the public within your given work area
What It Takes
- DNO Competencies (UKPN/SSE Preferred)
- Understanding and experience in oil filled cable freezing and other fault-finding techniques.
- Experience of terminating/jointing gas cables (optional)
- Experience in terminating cables intro insulated switchgear (GIS).
- Experience in fibre optic cable installation and jointing. (Optional)
- Experience in jointing at least two of the following Tyco, ex BICC, Ericsson, NKT, and Pirelli ABB terminations and joints.
- Knowledge of CDM 2015 legislation
- Basic technical and practical experience in the EHV electrical distribution industry on Cables
- Basic level of IT literacy,
- Strong leadership experience.
- Able to work under pressure, make decisions and meet tight deadlines.
- Proactive and creative approach to problem solving
- Ability to quickly build strong working relationships with people at all levels
- In possession of relevant certificates and qualifications (BESC, HSG 47, Streetworks, and CSCS) (preferred)
- In possession of a current valid UK driving license
