ABP UK is part of the ABP Food Group, Europe's leading Agri food business. We have an exciting new opportunity for an In-House Employment Solicitor to support our growth and build our pipeline specifically for production based and operational roles.

About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Head of HR for (England & Central Divisions) as a part of the central HR Team, the ER Case Manager will be centrally based in the Birmingham Support Office (BSO), with the majority of the working week spent supporting the 20 ABP UK sites via MS teams and telephone where support can be conducted remotely.

There will be a requirement to visit the sites and attend regular meetings in the BSO, but this won't account for 100% of the working week.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Advise stakeholders on legal risks, potential impacts and propose business focused solutions;
  • Support external legal counsel in the rare event of tribunal litigation this is a largely an in-house model save for advocacy.
  • Build effective relationships with HR and Operational colleagues to ensure you are a trusted ER focused partner who offers the right advice at the right time.
  • Report progress to relevant stakeholders and the legal team.
  • Support employment related projects such as change programmes (both TUPE and redundancy) and M&A activities.
  • Offer policy and strategic advice.
  • Proactively advise on changes to the law and the impact this may have on ABP's business.
  • Offer training and coaching to junior members of the team.
  • Provide support to the HR team on all employment matters including complex grievances and disciplinary issues and contracts.

Personal Specification:

  • Qualified ER case worker from a jurisdiction based on UK law
  • Large scale ER case work experience within a law firm or equivalent in house
  • Experience working within a large complex organisation at fast pace
  • Ability to identify and summarise key issues, risks and impact of risks for of all Levels including senior colleagues
  • Strong communication skills
  • A collaborative and pragmatic standout colleague
  • Ability to work under pressure

Hours of Work:

40 Hours per week on average

Monday to Friday (Core) with flexibility based on ER caseload
