Engineer – Electrical Test & Instrumentation to join the Battery Systems department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.
About The Role
To work in the Electrical Test Team to support testing both in the UK and overseas.
What You Will Do
- Execute system test and validation activities, both on products and on rigs
- Prepare test rigs to enable hardware and system testing to be carried out.
- Support testing carried out by external test houses.
- Assist with the build and fault-finding of projects
- Preparation and presentation of reports for internal and external audiences.
- Support technical and project reviews with the customer, representing Fortescue Zero, as required.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers and all other departments
- Understand and work to Fortescue Zero, Customer, Industry and Legislative standards.
- To assemble and disassemble as required systems and other components, to allow debug and fault resolution to take place.
- Ensure that all assemblies are built to a build procedure and that build checklists (where applicable) are completed and are visible for inspection.
- To build and maintain Labcar systems and components.
- Building and maintaining of test boxes
- Manage the instrumentation on vehicles and rigs. Including configuring loggers, downloading and pre-processing data.
Essential
About you
- Willing to travel in the UK and worldwide to support testing activities and customer support.
- Several years’ experience in the Automotive or Motorsport
- A good understanding of different testing and validation methods
- Understanding of data loggers and data logger software.
- The ability to work flexibly to strict deadlines
Preferred
- Experience of Electric Vehicles – HV charging, HV battery and HV powertrain systems
- Knowledge of Electrical and Environmental test standards, for example LV123 & LV124.
- Working knowledge of Vector tools including CANalyzer an CANape
- Experience in Heavy Industry / rail / mining
