Engineering Director

Location: Montrose – Site based role

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership, direction and accountability for the site dedicated Engineering team including staff and contractors and act as a key member of the site’s leadership team and overall role model to the site

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Lead all aspects of asset care and capital engineering on site.
  • Ensure that all engineering activities are compliant with relevant statutory, regulatory and company engineering requirements.
  • Develop a longer-term vision, typically in line with the 3/1 planning process for the development of maintenance strategy, site production facilities and infrastructure and ensure this is documented within the sites FIP (facilities investment plan).
  • Contribute to the general management of the site, through membership of the Site Leadership Team.
  • Ensure effective interaction with GCP (Global Capital Projects) and Central Engineering & EHS functions for the mutual benefit of GSK Montrose and the wider Global Supply Chain (GSC).
  • Promote team working and continuous improvement in all engineering activities.
  • Act as the senior technical authority for engineering activities on site.
  • Uphold duty holding responsibilities in areas of delegated authority
  • Leveraging your financial acumen to optimize high value capital and revenue budgets

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:


  • Proven effective senior leadership and management within pharmaceutical or fine chemicals manufacture.
  • Good knowledge of processes and equipment used in pharmaceutical manufacture.
  • Good knowledge of the appropriate GMP, Quality, EHS and Engineering standards.
  • Good knowledge of asset care best practice techniques


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant Engineering discipline Managing individual and team performance.
  • Chartered Engineering status
  • Good communication, change management and influencing skills
  • Extensive experience (Senior level) in management of maintenance operations and/or project management
