The role
You will work as part of a great team of track and train Engineers who deliver a world class on-site train service for Stansted Airport. The track transit system is a light rail system which operates carrying passengers between the terminal and satellite buildings. 3.2km of track links the buildings which the 9 vehicles operate on; the vehicles are rubber tyred with a centre guide.
The airport is an exciting and busy place to work and the track transit system is a critical service to deliver effective transportation to our customers and passengers; in good time, to high standards and within our compliance framework. Your role would be to ensure this happens via our planned or reactive maintenance work.
As the engineering technician, you will undertake planned or reactive maintenance work, ensuring maximum serviceability which meets agreed SLA’s. You will be inspecting assets which are not working, assessing and reporting what work is required and using work management systems (for eg, Maximo) as required and to understand individual, team and asset performance. There will be a strong requirement to carry out tasks which require in depth technical competence in mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering or minor work in other disciplines.
The airport is in planning for a programme of transformation and therefore this contract is being offered as a fixed term contract for a minimum of 24 months.
What will make you successful in the role?
To be successful in the role you will need to be enthusiastic and motivated, focussed on achieving results and a standard of excellence. You will need experience maintaining rail or track transit systems, which could include train, track, platforms, signalling, hydraulic systems, auto doors, electrical supplies and train air-conditioning units - working in a multi-skilled engineering environment. We will need you to operate and promote working practices which ensure a safe working environment for self and others, contributing to the development of a safety culture and adhering to mandatory regulations & safety procedures.
