Job Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to provide general administrative and basic underwriting support to the Engineering Treaty/Direct & Facultative and Technical Risks Reinsurance underwriting teams.
You will become an essential part of the day to day running of a successful and expanding team, learning all aspects of insurance and reinsurance.
The successful candidate will be an analytically minded individual who aims to become a well-rounded Underwriter.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support to the underwriters, including but not limited to:
- Setting up submissions and liaising with Exposure Management Team as required
- Setting up and managing programme references
- Setting up and inputting basic data on various underwriting tools
- Running renewal reports
- Scanning and organisation of underwriting files
- Slip check/contract certainty
- Preparing and maintaining risk bordereaux, profiles and associated data
- Help to prepare retro submissions and data
- Policy / Aggregate Input Checking
- Liaising with Bridgend Office
- Keeping business flow and processes organised
- Carrying out initial underwriting analysis as directed
- Prepare ad-hoc reports / presentations
- Assist with ad hoc underwriting projects and tasks
- Assist in preparation of travel packs
Performance Objectives
- Able to demonstrate that you can follow underwriting guidelines
- Confidently use underwriting systems with minimal supervision
- Able to prioritise own workload
- Build a good relationship with the wider team
Essential
Skills and Experience Specification:
- High level of mathematical skills
- Engineering degree or similar qualification
- Computer literate & proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, especially excel
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and long hours if required and with minimal supervision
- Pro-active, can-do problem-solving attitude
- Team player
Desirable
- Willingness to study towards ACII qualification
- Additional language skills not essential but preferred
