Description

Explainable AI (XAI) in Computer Vision applications is a recent topic of interest among the research community. At the University of Hertfordshire (UH), we aim to develop XAI models for behavioural biometrics, particularly touch/stroke dynamics. This study will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of XAI techniques in improving user understanding, trust, and compliance with continuous authentication for dynamic touch stroke biometric authentication. This will involve activities such as conducting user studies to gather data on users' perceptions of the authentication process, evaluating the model's effectiveness in enhancing user trust and compliance, and analysing the impact of XAI on system performance and security. The research will also explore potential trade-offs between explainability and system performance in continuous authentication for dynamic touch stroke biometric authentication.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for working on cutting-edge tools and technologies related to touch/stroke virtual interfaces for data inputs, such as handwriting and bots. Your tasks will involve designing, developing, and implementing innovative algorithms and models utilising machine learning and deep learning techniques. Additionally, you will be expected to conduct investigations in the domain of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) to ensure transparent and interpretable results.

Qualifications

A master's/PhD's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Strong proficiency in machine learning and deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn. Experience in developing touch/stroke virtual interfaces or related applications is preferred. Familiarity with explainable artificial intelligence techniques and XAI frameworks is a plus. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or MATLAB. Excellent problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and attention to detail. Effective writing communication skills.
