Description
Early Intervention and Family Support Service

Family Support and Parenting Practitioner in the Bromley Children Project

Salary scale: BR12; £40,751 - £44,070

Hours: Permanent Full-time post (36hpw)

This is not a virtual role; you will be visiting families in their homes, attending meetings in various locations including schools, delivering face-to-face parenting in the Children and Family Centres and working with your team.

A warm, enthusiastic person with excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and IT skills is required for this established multi-agency, early intervention, community-based team recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted.

The post holder will be required to coordinate a caseload and deliver focused appropriate support to families under pressure, as well as delivering parenting and other evidence-based learning across a cluster of Children and Family Centres, in other venues within the borough, as well as virtually.

Helping families make changes to their lives by being tenacious and challenging but supportive, is absolutely key. Knowledge and application of completing holistic family assessments and goal setting is essential, as is an understanding of working ‘Team Around the Family’ and ‘key worker’ practice.

The work is hard but seeing how you have helped a family achieve change is a huge reward. However, a commitment to families isn’t enough, your support needs to enable sustained change for families, and you must have the ability to keep accurate timely records and follow policy and documentation procedures.

Applicants should enjoy working as part of a team, as well as independently. Evidence of candidates’ experience of working in partnership with a range of agencies in order to deliver positive and effective outcomes for the families will be required.

Working flexibly to meet the needs of families is essential, this could be early morning, evening and/or weekends. Home visiting and other face to face contact is a daily requirement, consequently the role has very limited scope to work from home.

Applicants must demonstrate a genuine respect for families, a belief in the benefits of life-long learning, and knowledge of issues faced by families and services to support them. This should reflect equally on their own development and use of supervision.

A professional qualification in Education, Social Services, Health, Youth or Community work, or significant relevant experience is required.

Applications should fully address the person specification as they will be competitively shortlisted against this.

All appointments will be offered at the minimum salary point for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.

The successful candidate will require a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

We welcome candidates that reflect our local communities.

If you have any questions about the role, please contact Debs Cole or Rachel Dunley on 020 8461 7259.

Closing date for applications: midnight Sunday 05 January 2025.

Interviews: will be held on Friday 24 January 2025.

We are forces family friendly and are part of the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme (Bronze Award). We welcome applications from ex-Armed Forces personnel, reservists, veterans, cadet instructors and military spouses/partners.
