Newman Gardens is a 16 bedded flat scheme who support a wide range of needs, including personal care (pad changing, assisting with showers) People we support require support with eating and drinking, preparing meals, support with medication and finances and support with domestic tasks. We support individuals with a wide range of needs from autism, learning disabilities, brain acquired injuries and mental health.
Those we support enjoy a range of activities; from walking, enjoying meals out, arts and crafts, shopping, cinema, theatre, bowling, and day trips in local and extended areas such as Birmingham and going to Blackpool. People we support also enjoy music, karaoke, baking, cooking, and dancing.
Newman Gardens require staff members who are bubbly of nature, who like to laugh and tell joke and are not too serious. Staff need to have patience and a calming nature who listen to the needs of those we support and act on this. The range of support we provide differs massively for each person, requiring staff to be able to adapt to these changes quickly. We have some residents who have complex communication levels, so it is important for them that staff supporting them can be patient and have very good communication skills. The job role can, at times, be very fast paced so staff are required to be able to keep up with this.
