We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Finance Unit Lead to join our established finance team in Bath on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is pivotal in managing the financial and project accounting for our Advisory and Projects Units, as well as leading a small finance team.
The successful candidate will oversee the entire process of producing management accounts, ensure precise reporting of project revenues and costs, communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, manage junior team members, and guarantee the completion of all Unit reporting.

Key duties:
- Oversee the end-to-end production of management accounts and accurate reporting of project revenue and costs.
- Produce budgets and quarterly forecasts.
- Prepare monthly reporting packs and consolidate discipline results.
- Review and challenge project financial risks and opportunities.
- Provide direct monthly finance support to various disciplines within the unit.
- Collaborate with the Project Operations Team.
- Present financial analysis and KPIs at monthly leadership meetings.
- Prepare month-end reports for the senior leadership team.
- Offer financial and commercial decision support for Unit leaders.
- Continuously improve processes and ensure adherence to local finance policies and procedures.
- Conduct Project Partner and Project Director portfolio reviews.
Your skills and experience:
- Confident and proactive with excellent communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
- Positive and collaborative approach to building relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience in a similar role providing technical accounting and financial support.
- Project accounting experience in a dynamic business environment.
- Experience in board or senior leadership reporting.
- Experience in the engineering or construction industry would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with Agresso accounting system and Deltek Vantage Point would be an advantage, but not essential.
- Qualified or exams qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA.
