Role:

CFP Energy is seeking an FP&A manager to join a growing PE backed international commodity trading and energy supply Group. The successful candidate will be pivotal in establishing this new role, focusing on bottom-up departmental budgets, actuals vs. forecast analysis, KPI reporting, and driving system transformation projects.


Key responsibilities:

  • Cost management: Oversee intra-group cost recharge processes, track, and analyse costs to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • KPI tracking: Gather financial data from internal departments and external sources to produce insightful KPI reports.
  • Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports, including KPIs, and deliver ad-hoc business performance analyses.
  • Budgeting: Lead a collaborative, bottom-up budgeting process with department heads and provide detailed budget analysis.
  • Variance analysis: Take ownership of variance analysis for budgets, focusing on both cost control and gross profit tracking.
  • Financial modelling: Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting and strategic planning across the Group.
  • Strategic decision support: Provide financial insights and operational recommendations to support leadership decision-making.
  • Business partnering: Work closely with senior analysts and managers to align financial strategies with broader business goals and initiatives.
  • Project leadership: Manage small-scale projects aimed at improving data-driven insights, operational efficiency, or financial processes.



Ideal candidate:

  • Hands-on and proactive: Ready to roll up your sleeves as the first FP&A hire, managing everything from detailed data downloads to process-building and tackling ad hoc requests.
  • Industry expertise: Experience in the energy sector or with financial instruments is highly desirable.
  • Educational background: Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification.
  • Collaborative and credible: A confident, persuasive, and approachable team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Solution-focused mindset: Demonstrates initiative by proposing solutions, taking ownership, and confidently challenging the status quo.
  • Adaptable and resilient: Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to navigate and adapt to business change.
  • Strong communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting and articulating ideas to varied audiences with clarity and impact.
