Financial Risk Manager to join a data-driven technical risk management team in designing, developing and deploying quantitative risk models to manage our risk.

The Team
The Financial Risk Team is responsible for the end-to-end management of IG Group’s credit and market risk profile and works to measure, monitor and, where appropriate, mitigate these risks.
Alongside this, we are materially involved in our liquidity risk profile and have full ownership of the Group’s regulatory capital model for all entities.
The Team reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer, has frequent exposure to the Risk Committee, Executive Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee and works closely with the 1st line Sales & Trading, Model Validation, Treasury, Credit Operations and Enterprise Data teams.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Risk Manager to join a small (6-person) team mostly based in London.
The role is for a senior position supporting the Head of Financial Risk and will involve optimising, refining, and where necessary, rebuilding existing models, as well as proposing entirely new models and approaches. We are looking for someone who can challenge the existing status quo and help identify and mitigate unsighted risks.
The role will also involve an element of Developer Operations in managing our pipeline through GitLab and eventually helping transition this to GCP to adopt AI technologies.
One of the first projects for the successful candidate will be to fully integrate a Value-at-Risk model into IG’s suite of models and to recommend actions off the back of it.
What You’ll Do
- Designing, developing and deploying quantitative risk models in Python to our GitLab-managed servers (incl. rebuilds of existing models).
- Proposing new models not currently running (i.e. LGD & PB) to better manage our risk.
- Automating processes and controls.
- Continuous deployment of code changes to refine our risk management.
- Liaising with the 1st line commercial teams to act based on the outputs of our models.

What You’ll Need
- Python (incl. Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib)
- SQL (Oracle SQL)
- NoSQL (MongoDB)
- Git (GitLab)
- Risk modelling experience (incl. Stress-Testing, Value-at-Risk, Expected Shortfall, LGD, PB)
- Capital modelling experience (incl. IFR & IFPR)
- Nice to have: GCP experience
