Description
We are looking for an
FP&A Analyst who will be focused on supporting the financial planning and analysis functions within the company, ensuring the financial health of the business through comprehensive reporting and strategic insights. On a day-to-day basis, you will be involved in preparing and analysing monthly management accounts, including consolidating data and ensuring accuracy. You will closely monitor and reconcile balance sheets, providing detailed budget variance analysis and commentary for management, helping them make informed decisions. Additionally, you'll assist in preparing statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
The role will also require you to manage relationships with external stakeholders such as banking partners, presenting financial performance data and ensuring that financial processes align with the company's goals. You will be responsible for preparing VAT returns, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and working with cross-functional teams to implement any necessary changes.
Key aspects of the job include analysing financial data to identify trends, ensuring tight adherence to deadlines, and supporting strategic business decisions by translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights. You'll need to be comfortable working independently and be a strong communicator, able to collaborate with both finance and non-finance teams to deliver meaningful financial information.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly Management Accounts
- Prepare monthly management accounts and consolidate them according to the corporate timetable, including coordinating the reporting process, reviewing transactions, and performing balance sheet reconciliations.
Financial Analysis
- Analyse financial information and present findings to management with detailed budget variance analysis and commentary to provide insights on financial performance
Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Accounting Standards Compliance
- Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Statutory Accounts Support
- Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts, including group consolidation processes.
Audit Liaison
- Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and information as required.
Bank & Intercompany Reconciliations
- Review and reconcile bank and intercompany transactions, ensuring accuracy and alignment with financial data.
VAT Returns
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with tax regulations and deadlines.
Bank Relationship Management
- Manage the relationship with banking partners, including preparing and presenting performance data and business performance reports.
Process Improvement
- Continuously consider and implement process improvements in collaboration with colleagues to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Ad-hoc Duties
- Perform other ad-hoc financial tasks as required, ensuring the smooth functioning of financial operations.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA): At least 1 year post-qualification experience in a management accounting or FP&A role.
Accounting Standards Awareness: Sound understanding of the latest accounting standards and regulations.
Microsoft Excel Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, and other complex functions.
Experience in Financial Systems: Proven experience working with accounting and financial systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency in reporting.
Deadline Management: Demonstrated ability to manage and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly and effectively to key stakeholders.
Desirable Criteria:
Big 4 Experience: Experience in a large accounting firm (Big 4) is advantageous.
Industry Experience: Experience in preparing management accounts in an industry setting.
Financial Modelling Skills: Strong financial modeling abilities to provide actionable insights and analysis.
