Vacancy: Global Project Design Lead

As the Global Project Design Lead, you will provide functional leadership across JM for capital project engineering & design management. This functional leadership includes developing and owning JM project engineering management standards, best practices and tools and promoting and supporting their use in all projects, alongside developing and coaching JM project engineering management professionals working across the company.
The position also has an important role working with the Central Engineering Technical Services Director to ensure JM technical and engineering capabilities are fit-for-purpose for capital projects as well as leading the charge with procurement on the selection of key design companies.
This would welcome someone with Large-scale Design & EPCM experience.

Your responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain JM project engineering management standards, best practices, guidelines and templates, to standardise, support and continuously improve the work of JM Project Engineering Managers
- Develop and maintain standard contractor engineering management requirements to be included in JM project tender requests and execution contracts, in consultation with the Capital Project Contractor Performance Lead
- Develop and maintain processes for assurance and control of engineering quality
- Develop and maintain guidance and templates for conducting design reviews and review of contractor engineering deliverables during project development and execution
- In partnership with the Central Project Scheduling and Progress Control Lead, develop and maintain processes for measuring and controlling engineering progress, including sequencing and readiness of engineering deliverables for construction
- Work with Group procurement to ensure that the relationship between project engineering and procurement operates effectively in the front end of projects and in Implementation, so both functions have common objectives aligned with project priorities
- Work with the Central Engineering Technical Services Director to ensure that JM technical standards and JM Technical Authorities are fit-for-purpose to support project front-end design, detailed engineering and procurement
- Work with Central Engineering Technical Services Director and Operations Directors to develop and maintain JM project engineering data management standards and best practices, including the use of digital plant information management applications in capital projects and the transition of as-built plant data and documents to site operations on project completion
- Act as functional home for JM staff working in the engineering management function in major projects and site-based projects (Project Engineering Managers and Project Engineers)
- Coach JM engineers working in project engineering management and oversee their career development, ensuring there are viable and attractive career paths for JM staff into, within, and beyond the project engineering management function
- Work with the Central Engineering Technical Services Director to ensure that competent JM process engineering and discipline engineering resources are available as required for assignment to JM project teams
Requirements for the role:
- Large-scale Design & EPCM experience
- Experience working globally across a large organisation
- Recognised industry Engineering qualification
- Experience working across multiple disciplines
- Experience across the full engineering life-cycle
- Experience working on large-scale projects
