The Vacancy

We have an exciting opportunity for an a Gradudate Quantity Surveyor to join our busy Commercial team as we continue to grow here at WGM. This role is suitable for a recent Graduate who is looking to develop their skills further. If you are interested in an opportunity to work within the Engineering industry and contribute towards the successful growth of the business, we would love to hear from you. Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager, you will provide commercial support across all business streams concerning financial and contractual matters arising through the management of various contracts. Offering support to the Commercial team you will provide assistance to allow projects to be safely delivered on time and to budget.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide Commercial support across various projects to maximise profit and minimise risk
  • Assist with the accurate monthly cost and value forecasting of all projects
  • Ability to review and challenge resources and costs compared with agreed budgets and forecasts
  • Maintain deadlines according to monthly reporting calendar
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with both internal and external parties
  • Production of CVRs and analysis of same
  • Assist with the creation of cash flow forecasts
  • Receive and analyse quotations, review with internal contacts regarding price, scope and programme and prepare comparisons
  • Prepare and send enquiries to sub-contractors inviting them to tender
  • Notify in writing both successful and unsuccessful subcontractors in a timely manner
  • Monitor and report on expenditure on contracts compared to budgets and forecasts
  • Contribute to and attend financial and progress meetings with clients and sub-contractors as required
  • Prepare valuations for payment applications to the client


To be considered for this position you will be a recent university Graduate qualified within a Quantity Surveying discipline. The selected candidate will work towards becoming a qualified Quantity Surveyor and progress their skillset over the next few years. The ideal candidate will require to have good attention and excellent interpersonal skills and have an ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
