Role Purpose
The Group's Technology operating model includes global services and a network connecting divisional hosting facilities. We may add more services in the future. Delivering, securing, and operating these services is crucial for the Group's growth.
The Group Director for Technology Operations will enhance our global technology services, connecting colleagues, platforms, and systems worldwide in a secure and seamless environment. They will lead a team and work with collaborators to ensure consistent management of services, promoting interoperability and security. They will collaborate with senior members in Technology and other functions to support our growth strategy.

This role calls for a problem solver who can establish an efficient process for technology hosting and services, and collaborate with divisional teams to complete this strategy. It will require strong leadership and the ability to influence others without formal authority. The position involves working closely with different teams within the organization and delivering effective presentations at all levels.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Define and drive the group technology operations strategy, ensuring alignment with our goals and adapting as the Group scales.
- Direct Security Architecture, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams that secure our global services and provide global security solutions across the Flutter Group.
- Define the strategic direction of our ongoing Cloud Security Strategy.
- Assure that our Global Platforms and Enterprise Applications have appropriate Cyber Controls in place and are operating effectively.
- Ensure that appropriate security standards are built into the global service environment, working with colleagues in the group to identify and address security risks
- Manage strategic vendors to ensure we get optimum value and performance.
- Maintain a focus on service performance and quality, ensuring that our customers and employees get the best possible experience.
- Develop and implement standard methodologies for system reliability, scalability, and efficiency. This includes overseeing change management, incident management, root-cause analysis, and post-mortem processes.
- Ensure all systems meet industry regulations and security standards (such as ISO27001).
- Establish and supervise metrics to measure and report on operational performance. Use data-driven insights to guide continuous improvement efforts.
- Prepare and manage the tech operations budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost optimization.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that global service quality continues to improve.
- Respond to significant operational issues, supporting global and divisional teams to resolve them.
- Keep employees, divisional leadership teams, and group functions informed about changes and improvements in the hosting and services environment.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the tech operations team, promoting a high-performance culture with a focus on innovation, reliability, and accountability.

Qualifications & Experience
- Experience of operating in a senior leadership role within a fast-paced global online/eCommerce organization, ideally one with a multi-divisional structure.
- Demonstrable experience of creating effective long-term strategies for global operational services, and successfully implementing them by influencing and leading others.
- Expertise in implementing architectures and processes that span complex multi-divisional organizations.
- Extensive experience in collaborating with internal and external collaborators, supported by excellent verbal and written communication skills with a style that can flex according to the audience.
- Ability to negotiate robustly with strategic vendors to ensure we take full advantage of our scale to manage costs and get value for money.
- Makes decisions that are well-informed and timely.
- Resourceful individual, adept at exploring alternatives and embracing fresh perspectives to tackle problems.
- Experience managing complex projects and competing priorities, ideally with knowledge of multiple delivery methodologies (agile, waterfall, etc). Able to choose the right methodology for each project.
- Strong background in IT infrastructure management, networking, and cloud services with experience of managing at least one of the major providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
