Stanton House is partnering exclusively with a fast-growing, PE backed software business who are seeking a highly experienced Group Financial Controller to join their dynamic team.
The Group Financial Controller is new role, reporting directly to the CFO and collaborating closely with the Head of FP&A as they business drives rapid growth across the group through both organic expansion and acquisitions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation from a Top 10 accounting firm and have progressed into a Group Reporting or Financial Controller role. They should possess high aspirations and the emotional intelligence (EQ) to thrive in a mid-market private equity environment. Experience in a Private Equity-backed business or SaaS would be advantageous but is not essential.
In order to succeed in the role;
- Qualified Accountant (ACA preferred)
- Audit & Reporting Experience: Background in audit, accounts preparation, and creating/reporting financial statements beyond audit processes.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP with proven technical accounting and statutory reporting skills.
- Proactive and Hands-On: Demonstrable experience in a dynamic, hands-on role, particularly in stakeholder management.
- Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Diligent with strong attention to detail, able to analyse complex financial information effectively.
- Strong Systems Skills: Comfortable working with various financial systems and tools.
- Leadership & Communication: Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Resilient Under Pressure: Ability to maintain high attention to detail while working at pace under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit Coordination: Collaborate with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit of the consolidation process, addressing queries promptly to avoid delays.
- Financial Statements: Prepare consolidated financial statements for the Group and oversee the timely completion of statutory financial statements for subsidiaries.
- Technical Accounting: Prepare technical accounting papers as required by group management and auditors, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Compliance and Reporting: Maintain a strong understanding of tax and UK reporting compliance requirements, including submissions to HMRC, Companies House, and other regulatory bodies.
- Technical Support: Serve as a point of contact throughout the Group for technical accounting and reporting queries. Review and assess the impact of new developments in financial governance and related regulatory frameworks on the Group.
- Financial Control and Process Improvement: Ensure adherence to financial control frameworks and continuously improve existing processes. Promote best practices pragmatically to enhance both efficiency and quality of outputs.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Develop and maintain a robust process for monitoring balance sheet reconciliations performed by the wider Finance team.
- Accounting Policies and Procedures: Oversee the maintenance of accounting policies and procedures related to costs and capital expenditure (capex), including drafting accounting papers where necessary.
- Cash Flow Management: Ensure effective management of company-level cash flow, optimising financial resources to support operational needs.
- Expansion and Strategic Projects: Assist the CFO with the Group's expansion plans, including M&A projects and other related initiatives.
- Systems Implementation: Support the CFO in the implementation and upgrade of financial systems.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the transactional finance team, including credit control, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
