The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Insurance Manager to join James Fisher and Sons.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all global insurance operations and will be lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of an integrated insurance risk management strategy. This strategy will be designed to our ability to support groupwide corporate goals and compete successfully in a global market.
You’ll manage the development of an insurable risk financing programme in the context of group’s broader risk financing / risk management strategy across 20+ countries.
Responsible for provision of effective and appropriate support and guidelines to assist with the identification and analysis of insurable risk in the various business activities – including compliance with regulatory requirements to procure insurance.

Principle Accountabilities
- Leading and developing the insurance department to ensure it is set up for success with the support from the Director of Treasury and IR.
- Advising, and obtaining agreement from, the Board and Leadership Team on the objectives for corporate insurance procurement, insurance management and an effective strategy to meet the objectives set.
- Ensuring a clear understanding of the insurable risk management strategy and the value of utilising the processes developed to support that strategy.
- Making sure that provision of effective and appropriate support and guidelines to assist with the identification and analysis of insurable risk in the various business activities.
- Issuing guidance on appropriate external resources to support division and business unit managers in the evaluation of insurable risk or selection of mitigation options.
- Ensuring the business has adequate support to optimise the outcome of any claims made under the insurable risk financing programme.
- Developing and owning the insurance function and adopted strategy setting clear KPI’s.
- Maintaining an accurate database of all insurance documentation.
- Managing all day-to-day insurance operations.
- Managing the group’s insurance service provider relationships.
- Preparing insurance financial monthly reporting and inputs to the interim and annual accounts.
- Developing an insurance systems roadmap, including any selection and implementation of systems, enhancements, or upgrades.
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant insurance and risk management experience working in a corporate environment.
- Educated to a diploma degree standard and/ or a fully qualified Accountant.
- You will hold an ACII (or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience working in a global organisation.
- You will also possess experience of a proven track record with change management, working to numerous tight deadlines and with management reporting.
- Have excellent influencing skills including the ability to question and work with senior management as well as to delegate and review work
- Be approachable, whilst being assertive and confident.
- Be well organised, and able to multi-task
- Have accuracy and attention to detail as well as strong analytical and negotiation skills.
