DWF is currently hiring a Group Reporting Manager to join our finance department at DWF, on a hybrid basis, in Manchester. This is a key role in overseeing the Group's external financial reporting requirements in a fast paced and dynamic business. The role will take the lead in technical accounting for the Group, and assist with acquisition accounting as we continue to grow both organically and via M&A.
We are looking for energetic problem solver, who can help drive continuous improvements in processes, systems and overall control environment. Interaction with different teams is a large part of the role and so we are looking for someone who can influence, coach and set standards within the Group.
Responsibilities
- Lead the timely production of the Group and UK external financial reporting under IFRS.
- Work with the Group's external auditor to deliver an efficient audit to timetable for the Group and 2 UK subsidiaries (corporate and LLPs). Assist in overseas audits (e.g Dubai and Ireland) where required.
- Assist with acquisition accounting work, working with advisers where valuation support is required. Working with newly acquired businesses to integrate their reporting into the Group and in accordance with the Group's timetable.
- Help ensure compliance with IFRS by staying on top of new regulations, coaching colleagues, and setting best practices.
- Produce and maintain Group accounting policy documentation to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and to support consistent financial reporting across the Group.
- Monitor external reporting requirements throughout the Group and work with the Group's overseas finance teams to ensure they meet local reporting and audit deadlines, providing support where required.
- Produce ad-hoc technical papers where required and provide technical accounting advice to finance teams across the business.
- Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring risks and opportunities are carefully managed. Additionally, coach and develop the preparers of the reconciliations to ensure they are upskilling in IFRS and improving the quality of the reconciliations.
- Be a key component in improving the overall control environment of the Group, closing existing control gaps, optimising the use of technology and identifying areas of control weaknesses.
- Management of direct reports, setting objectives aligned with functional goals and working together to ensure strong performance of the team.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential
- ACA (or equivalent) qualification with an understanding of international accounting standards (IFRS).
- Record of working as an auditor or technical accountant in an international group.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines ensuring continuing delivery of tasks to timetable.
- Strong communication skills and a technical mindset, with the ability to convey complex information simply and clearly to a range of audiences.
- Excellent analytical skills, handling significant datasets, with a track record of identifying financial issues and developing effective solutions.
- Demonstrate success in improving financial processes and enhancing the control environment.
- Developer of people, recognising the benefits of coaching, mentoring and reviewing to facilitate team-wide benefit and value.
Desirable
- Experience and/or knowledge of Legal Service businesses (i.e. partnerships).
