PO9: Starting salary £70,150 pa rising in annual increments to £75,144 per annum incl LW

12- months Fixed Term Contract or Secondment Opportunity

About the Team:

The Private Sector Enforcement and Regulations (PSER) team has responsibility for over 34% of Lambeth’s housing stock which is in the Private rented sector. While most properties in the PRS are well maintained and safe, we are looking for the right person to lead the service in making all available tools to improve the situation for residents in private rented accommodations. PSER team here at Lambeth has a wide and vital remit and covers all areas of the borough as it relates to privately rented properties. The team is dynamic and made up of fellow officers who covers crucial functions such as HMO and Selective Licensing, Enforcement of Privately rented properties, Empty Properties and High-Rise Building for Fire safety issues.

This Head of Service will drive the service forward, putting the safety of tenants and residents at the heart of all the team does, helping to improve the lives of the tenants, educating and working with the good landlords and helping up to tackle and stamp out Rogue landlords in the Borough.

About the Role:

This role would suit an individual who is pro-active, dynamic and resilient with relevant skills and experiences to work across all areas of private rented sector enforcement.

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to have a goal-orientated approach to complex problems. Leading a busy team, you will need to have an organised and constructive approach to service delivery, be a great team player, lead by example and be flexible and approachable.

You must have knowledge of current housing legislation as it relates to private sector housing and understand all strands of informal and formal enforcement action to remedy instances of disrepair etc. These actions include but are not limited to housing inspections, HHSRS inspections, serving Statutory Notices and attending court.

You must be able to ensure statutory and corporate requirements are being met, maximising opportunities across the team and the private sector to drive forward compliance and standards.
